Kylian Mbappé: A lot can happen in a year

The France captain spoke again about his future, leaving the door open to a possible move from PSG.

Kylian Mbappé has again insisted that he will remain at PSG until 2024, although the Frenchman also left the door open to speculation about his future. “Leaving for free in 2024? I can only think about playing at PSG next season. A lot happens in a year... and even more so at a club like PSG! His words were reported on Telefoot’s Sunday morning show with Mbappé on international duty with the France national team.

The programme did not specify when the PSG player said the above, although everything indicates that the France captain said it after leaving for a press conference on Thursday, before facing Gibraltar. Mbappé is once again in doubt as to what will happen after 30 June 2024 when his contract with the French club expires.

Mbappé sends letter to PSG

Mbappé recently stated that staying at PSG was his only option at the moment, although he admitted that he sent a letter to Les Parisiens confirming that he would not be renewing. Earlier, the France international dropped the bombshell in a statement that the current Ligue 1 champions’ hierarchy had known for almost a year about his decision not to stay after 2024. “The club’s management were informed on 15 July 2022 of my decision not to renew and the sole purpose of the letter was to confirm what had already been said beforehand,” Mbappé's statement ended.

Everything indicates that Mbappé will wear the PSG shirt for the 2023-24 season, but as the player himself says, anything can happen in a year at the Parc des Princes.
