Jonathan David continues in his net bothering objective in Ligue 1 with Lille and has already reached 21 goals across this current season. Only Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé has scored more goals than the 23-year-old Canadian striker.

Currently, there are few forwards with the qualities of the Canadian, who, in addition to being very agile and quick with the ball at his feet, is lethal in front of goal and with an impressive Lille side he is showing that he is a top level striker with plenty more years ahead of him.

Ligue 1 top scorers

Here are the goalscorers that are leading the way in the French top flight:

  • 22 - Kylian Mbappé (PSG)
  • 21 - Jonathan David (LOSC)
  • 19 - Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)
  • 18 - Folarin Balogun (Reims)
  • 17 - Ben Yedder (Monaco)

With his penalty kick against Auxerre, David reached 21 goals this season in Ligue 1, a situation that is by no means a small thing, since Mbappé is currently one of the best players in the world and, keeping up with his goalscoring rhythm is some feat.

Lille, who were pegged back to a 1-1 draw, lie in 5th position in the French league with 56 points with 32 games played: 16 wins, eight draws and eight losses.

As well as his goal tally, the Canadian has added four assists this season in Ligue 1. If he continues with this rich vein of form, it is expected that some of Europe’s elite clubs will have him in their sights to reinforce him in this summer’s transfer window.
