Some of the sporting directors of the great teams in Europe point out the importance of footballers adapting correctly to their social environment once their signing is finalized. Instability with houses, having the family away or not being able to speak the local language of their adopted country can affect the performance of an athlete. To avoid the latter, several Premier League footballers have entrusted the task to the same teacher: Sara Duque.

Sara Duque: Premier League language teacher

The young woman, born in Portugal and a sports lawyer by profession, speaks five languages almost perfectly: Portuguese, English, German, French and Spanish. For this reason, she has become a reference teacher for professionals all over the world, although lately she has focused her work on the England. You can often find her success stories as she posts them on her Instagram account, where she remains very active.

Richarlison, Julián Álvarez and Arthur Melo are some of the big stars who have entrusted Duque with their progress in English.

“From lifting the World Cup to conquering a new language, my student’s talent knows no bounds. Impressive progress in such a short period of time,” she wrote to the Argentine almost two months ago.

However, Duque does not only teach English, and is not solely devoted to Premier League footballers. Lázaro Vinicius, an Almería player in LaLiga, learned to speak Spanish in just four months thanks to Sara’s classes. “Understanding his peers and adapting to the culture was a little tricky, but with consistency and dedication to learning the language, Lázaro has made amazing progress,” she said.

Sara Duque’s method recommends the study of a new language for five types of footballers: those who already have plans to play in another country, those who want to play in another country, those who play for a European team, to those who are selected by their national team and to those who are injured for a long time.

Influencers on Instagram

In addition to teaching languages, Sara Duque has become a sensation on social media, especially on Instagram. As well as proudly promoting the progress of her students, Sara publishes all kinds of content for her followers, taking advantage of visits to sports stadiums, paradisiacal enclaves, or simply playing with her dog.

In fact, in addition to being a teacher, she has also made a career in the modelling world. And she was pretty good at it too, winning the Miss Portugal award of the Miss Grand International pageant in 2021.

Duque trajectory

Despite the fact that her dedication to the world of football is almost absolute today, Duque’s career did not start like this.

During her university days, she was awarded eight scholarships to study abroad and had her first professional experience at the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg.

After spending time in several countries thanks to her profession as a lawyer, Sara ended up focusing on doing translations and, from there, she almost immediately went into the world of sport. Before becoming a private teacher, she was a language teacher at Porto, where she acted as a kind of go-between for the first team.
