Kylian Mbappé set to haunt Marseille again as Real Madrid open Champions League campaign
The former PSG star tormented Marseille for years in France and aims to continue that record in Tuesday’s UCL opener.

Kylian Mbappé may have left Paris Saint-Germain under somewhat acrimonious circumstances, but the Real Madrid superstar will go down in history as one of the greatest players in the French club’s history. He remains PSG’s all-time top scorer.
Mbappé won 12 major trophies in seven seasons in Paris and played a key role in the club’s dominance over bitter rivals Marseille, who he will face once again with Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Mbappé’s unbeaten record against Marseille
Since making his debut for Monaco in December 2015, Mbappé has faced Marseille 16 times, twice with Monaco and 14 times with PSG. In those games, he has been on the winning side 14 times, with the other two matches ending in draws.

The Real Madrid attacker has never been on the losing side against OM, frequently tormenting them during his time in France. He has 10 goals and three assists in 16 appearances versus Marseille, averaging a goal contribution every 87 minutes.
Madrid star confident but respectful ahead of clash
Before the midweek Champions League showdown, the 26-year-old acknowledged his excellent record against his compatriots.
“I score a lot of goals against OM,” said a laughing Mbappé in an interview with French broadcaster TF1.
In classic soccer-player fashion, he quickly added that Real Madrid will still face a tough challenge against the 1993 European champions.
“But they’ve changed a lot. They’ve got a new project, with sporting director Mehdi Benatia, he’s a friend of mine. We’ll see. It’s cool to play against French teams. Plus we’ll be at the Bernabéu so it’ll be a good game. They’ve not played in the Champions League for a long time. It’ll be nice to play against them again, it’ll bring back good memories.”
