LAFC, NYCFC boast league-high three players on 2022 All-Star roster

For the second consecutive year the Major League Soccer All-Stars will play against the best of Liga MX on 10 August at Allianz Field in Minnesota.

Everything is set for the 2022 All-Star game between the best of MLS against the best of Liga MX and it will take place on 10 August at Allianz Field in Minnesota. Major League Soccer announced the final roster for this event and Los Angeles FC along with New York City FC boasts a league-high three players on the 2022 All-Star roster.

Los Angeles FC holds the best record in MLS and they are leading the race to win the Supporters’ Shield this season. The league announced that Carlos Vela, Ilie Sánchez and Diego Palacios from LAFC are included in the 26 player roster that will play against the breast of Liga MX next month.

On the other hand, New York City FC are fighting for the top spot in the Eastern Conference and even though they sit in third place, they are one point behind first place NY Red Bulls. MLS announced that Valentín Castellanos, Alexander Callens and Sean Johnson were included in the league’s roster this year.

While the LA Galaxy striker Javier Chicharito Hernández and defender Julian Araujo were also selected for the 2022 MLS All-Star game. This is the second consecutive season that both players are included in the roster that was selected through a combination of fan, player and media voting.

The 26-player roster

Goalkeepers - Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union), Sean Johnson (New York City FC) and Dayne St. Clair (Minnesota United)

Defenders - Julian Araujo (la Galaxy), Alexander Callens (NYCFC), Aaron Long (NYRB), Kamal Miller (CF Montréal), Diego Palacios (LAFC), Kai Wagner (Philadelphia Union), DeAndre Yedlin (Inter Miami) and Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC).

Midfielders - Luciano Acosta (Cincinnati FC), Sebastián Driussi (Austin FC), Carles Gil (New England Revolution), Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC), Darlington Nagbe (Columbus Crew), Emanuel Reynoso (Minnesota United) and Ilie Sánchez (LAFC).

Strikers - Carlos Vela (LAFC), Javier Chicharito Hernández (LA Galaxy), Paul Arriola (FC Dallas), Valentín Castellanos (NYCFC), Jesús Ferreira (FC Dallas), Taxiarchis Fountas (DC United), Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders) and Raúl Ruidiaz (Seattle Sounders).
