As LAFC prepares to kick off its 2023 MLS playoff run against Vancouver Whitecaps, the club’s owners are also thinking about their next move, which would involve a European soccer team.

According to Bloomberg, the ownership group, which includes minority shareholders Will Ferrell, ex-footballer Mia Hamm and NBA legend Earvin Magic Johnson, is interested in acquiring a club from the Swiss league.

The club they are looking at is Grasshoppers Zurich, a team that is not going through its best spell, and the LAFC owners see it as a great opportunity to take over the club and take it to the next level.

No further details have been revealed about the possible move by LAFC’s owners, nor have any estimated figures for a possible purchase been mentioned, although the interest does exist, according to Bloomberg.

When does LAFC play in the first round of the MLS playoffs?

The reigning MLS champions will be in action in the first round of the playoffs this Saturday when they open the series against Vancouver Whitecaps at BMO Stadium.
