Liga MX transfer rumours: signings and sales for América, Chivas, Pumas & Cruz Azul
With the Clausura 2024 round the corner, we take a look at the rumoured incomings and outgoings of Liga MX’s top sides.
Despite the fact that the Clausura 2024 tournament is just days away, that does not mean that transfer business from the teams is done and dusted. Plenty of sides still have lots of advanced deals in the pipeline, while others are scrambling around looking for last-minute bargains.
We take a look at the incomings, outgoings and rumours surrounding Liga MX’s top sides:
Club América
The champion of Mexican football is going through a delightful moment in their history, still high off the back of collecting star number 14 against Tigres last month. Now that the team will be playing in two competitions, the América board want to reinforce the squad to be able to compete on all fronts, giving André Jardine the best possible chance of continuing his success.
Guadalajara
Chivas cannot afford to repeat their recent results in Mexico, as they were defeated in the quarter-finals by Pumas UNAM. The intention of the board, as you may have expected, is to get themselves into the top positions of the table and look for the CONCACAF Champions League title, which would take them to the Club World Cup tournament.
Cruz Azul
The most recent tournament was an unmitigated disaster from Los Cementeros, who finished bottom of the table. This scare has led the board of directors to move themselves ahead of the Clausura 2024, and signings have already been made in an effort to steer the ship out of the mire.
Pumas
As for Pumas, they arrived at the semi-finals of the tournament after overcoming Chivas. However, they couldn’t get past eventual finalists Tigres, who themselves went on to lose against América. This year, Pumas want to go one step further with some strong additions to their squad.
