Barcelona have, so far, made only one signing for the first team: Anthony Gordon. The forward arrived from Newcastle and is currently playing at the Club World Cup, albeit with limited success.

The Blaugrana agreed a deal worth approximately $82 million guaranteed, plus a further $11.7 million in add-ons.

According to The Mirror, the variable payments are tied to a number of conditions. Barcelona will pay an additional $5.9 million if the club wins major trophies such as La Liga or the Champions League during Gordon’s contract, which runs until 2031. The Catalan side will also pay around $1.2 million per season if the forward features in at least 60% of the team’s matches.

Another previously undisclosed detail is that Newcastle have retained a percentage of any future sale of Gordon. However, the report does not specify what share of a potential transfer fee would go to the English club.
