Liga MX turns pink
Throughout October, Mexican soccer is to play its part in raising awareness about the importance of detecting breast cancer early.
Liga MX, Liga MX Femenil and Liga de Expansión have officially launched the 19th edition of the Campaña Rosa (‘Pink Campaign’) - a powerful initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection and reinforcing Mexican soccer’s commitment to health and social responsibility.
Throughout the month of October, matches across all three leagues will be played with a special pink ball - the campaign’s signature color. The initiative seeks to harness the passion of millions of fans across the country to deliver a life-saving message through one of Mexico’s most beloved sports.
According to official statistics, more than 8,000 women in Mexico lost their lives to breast cancer in 2023 - an average of 13 deaths per day. In light of these sobering numbers, Liga MX is calling on the public to recognize the critical importance of early detection.
Highlights of the 2025 Campaña Rosa include:
- Full participation from all clubs across the three professional leagues
- Use of the pink ball in every Liga BBVA MX and Liga Expansión MX match
- Pre-match ceremonies featuring breast cancer survivors delivering the symbolic match ball
- Goal nets dyed pink as a visual tribute to the cause
- Team captains wearing commemorative armbands
- Auction of official team jerseys, with proceeds funding the donation of external breast prostheses for survivors
With these efforts, Mexican professional soccer aims to go beyond the pitch - becoming an active force in the fight against breast cancer by promoting prevention and standing in solidarity with those affected by the disease.
