Liga MX unveil breast cancer awareness matchball for Apertura playoffs

As is traditional at this stage of the year, Mexican football lends its hand in joining the awareness campaign against breast cancer.

Liga MX will join the campaign in generating awareness for breast cancer next October with the unveiling of the pink matchday ball that will be used in all Liga MX matches, as well as in Liga Expansión and Liga MX Femenil.

At a press conference held at the headquarters of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), the ball was unveiled with dignitaries present such as the President of Liga MX, Mikel Arriola, José Carlos Elizondo, CEO of VOIT (ball manufacturers), Ana Carolina Sepúlveda, President of the Board of Fundación IMSS, as well as Teresa Quijas, ambassador of the campaign and breast cancer survivor.

In more than 70 matches, between Liga MX, Liga Expansión and Liga MX Femenil, the message in continuing the fight against breast cancer will be present through the use of the pink ball.

-Liga MX: Playoffs, Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals (16 games).

- Women’s MX League: Matchday 15, Matchday 16, Matchday 17, Quarter-finals (35 games).

- Expansion League: Matchday 16, Matchday 17, Playoffs, Quarter-finals (30 games).

In addition to the ball, captains will wear pink armbands and it’s anticipated that many clubs will release limited edition pink shirts in adding their voice to the campaign.
