Lionel Messi’s future according to Argentinians

Will Messi end his career in MLS? Barcelona? Saudi Arabia? In Buenos Aires, the polls are in for where the fans want to see the Argentinian end his career.

Update:

Lionel Messi’s stellar career is starting to wind down. The Argentinian superstar has won the World Cup and has so many accolades to his name after over two decades playing soccer for both club and country.

His leaving Barcelona in 2021 was unfortunate, as it’s where he played his whole life, where he achieved the most success, where he created a life, and where he was beloved by all. His time in Paris with PSG has not been the same experience. After a rough start getting used to a new country, language, and team, Messi got back on track in his second year, but still didn’t achieve the success he did in Catalunya. It doesn’t help that he’s ending the season on a two-week suspension.

Now, his contract with the team is coming to an end. After June 30, his future is up in the air. The fans in Argentina, however, have just one place in mind for their hero to end his incredible career.

Argentinians are unanimous: Messi should end career in Barcelona

In Buenos Aires, several people were interviewed and asked where they believe Leo Messi should end his career. Regardless of any financial issues that may still apply, everyone agreed - Messi should end his career in Barcelona.

“Everyone should be in a place where they feel comfortable and happy,” said one man in the capital. “Obviously, at PSG, they haven’t treated him properly, so he’ll have to look for another place. Maybe a possibility could be Barcelona.”

“My thoughts are definitely in Barça,” said one woman. “From the little I understand and see, it’s the place where he was respected the most, he was valued, where they valued him as a player and as a person.

“Barça is his place,” said another woman. “He lived there, his kids were born there. I think he was always happy there and he was the most successful there.”

As for Messi’s decision - his father took to social media recently to make it very clear that there will be no final decision until after the season has ended. However, that won’t keep rumors from flying, people from speculating, and the Argentinians and Catalans from hoping.
