Liverpool legend points to influence of Luis Diaz, but Ballon d’Or...?
Ahead of the huge clash against rivals Manchester United, John Barnes has been praising the Colombian for his performances since joining.
Last week’s game against Crystal Palace once again showed the value of Liverpool’s acquisition of Luis Diaz from Portuguese football. A goal down, and a man down, the Colombian produced a bit of magic to level the score up and a point was secured. It was what recently departed Sadio Mané offered at times, and arguably one of his younger replacements has made enough statements on the pitch to suggest The Reds will be just fine without him.
The latest exclusive interview for BonusCode Bets sees Liverpool legend John Barnes give his very positive view on the attacking player’s performances. And as anyone who saw the Englishman in his pomp knows, he is clear about the role.
Barnes lauds “most consistent” Diaz
“He’s come to Liverpool and performed fantastically well and he spent the whole year with Liverpool. But I think it’s probably a bit early to talk about the Ballon d’Or. He’s been fantastic since he’s come.
“I expect him to continue the same way (this season). Liverpool, the way they play, suits his style It doesn’t surprise me.
“From Liverpool’s point of view, he’s been our most consistent attacking player. I know Mo (Salah) did very well at the end of last season but every time he’s played, Luis Diaz has been fantastic.
“So yeah, I expect him to continue in that way.”
Liverpool and Díaz, meanwhile, have everything ready for the closest English equivalent to El Clásico as they head to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. Klopp’s side has started the season with two surprising draws and so is in just as much need to get all three points as their hosts.
