Premier League: When does the 2022/23 transfer window close?

Premier League clubs only have a matter of days to get their business done before the transfer window closes until January.

Clubs may be granted an extension to complete any last-minute transfers by submitting a deal sheet. A deal sheet allows a club to confirm that an agreement has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

The summer 2022 transfer window for clubs in the 2022/23 Premier League will close at 11pm BST on 1 September 2022.

For last year’s summer deadline, which was also 11pm, a deal sheet could not be used before 9pm, and had to arrive fully completed before the transfer window closed. Once the sheet arrives, clubs have an additional two hours, or until 1am, to submit the full paperwork.

Signings of the summer

Erling Haaland

Everyone wanted Erling Haaland, but he has ended up at reigning champions Manchester City. The Norwegian already had a connection to the club and attended matches involving City as a boy. He has joined Pep Guardiola’s Premier League winning side and the big question has been ‘how will he fit in?’. Haaland has hit the ground running at City and will no doubt be a frightening prospect for defenders both domestically and in Europe this season.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling won’t have the chance to link up with Haaland in attack, having left City after a successful stint in Manchester. The England international will become a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s forward line this season, adding a wealth of experience to the team.

Darwin Núñez

Liverpool picked up the big number nine from Benfica, a club who have produced some of the finest talents in Europe in recent times, including Manchester City centre-back Ruben Dias. Darwin Núñez came off the bench to score and assist in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw away to Fulham on Saturday, before getting sent off for headbutting Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen in the second game of the season. Despite the three-match ban, we expect to come good soon.

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus has been brought in from Manchester City and it hasn’t taken him long to adapt to Mikel Arteta’s orders. A central role with more responsibility this season will only help the 25-year-old increase his output.

Christian Eriksen

United have so far failed in their attempt to land Frenkie de Jong, with the Dutchman happy to stay with Barcelona. In what has been a relatively quiet window for United, who need to add to their squad, they have picked up a top-class midfielder in Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. The former Tottenham playmaker will add quality to a midfield that needs improvement.

Last-minute deals

Over the next few days, more deals will go through in the Premier League. Manchester United are still in the market for more players. Chelsea could also make another couple of signings to add to Tuchel’s squad.
