Liverpool lose to Nottingham Forest: fan and pundit reactions
After beating Man City and West Ham, The Reds looked to be back on the Premier League track. Then they ran into a Forest.

It had been a very poor start to the 2022/23 season for Liverpool, especially given the standard they have set for themselves in recent years. Last year The Reds featured in an unprecedented 63 games -- all three cup finals, winning two -- and lost only four games across that incredible period. Wins against Man City and West Ham appeared to have steadied the Premier League ship on Merseyside, and arguably it has there.
The problem is away from Anfield, where a Saturday loss to bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Forest reminded everyone that there is still a lot of work to do to return the swagger.

Forest stun a disappointing Liverpool
Taiwo Awoniyi -- who signed for Liverpool at the age of 18 but never played for them -- sealed a 1-0 win with a goal in the second-half. Those three points lifted the Midlands club off the foot of the Premier League and left Jürgen Klopp’s side 11 points off Arsenal at the summit, and the Gunners have played a game less.
The reaction was immediate...
Alisson has been Liverpool's best player today, as he has been over the course of the season. That alone paints a picture of how much the club is struggling at the moment. #LFC

No excuses at all for this kind of display. Here we thought three wins on the bounce will help us find our feet and go on a winning spree only for us to play shite football one week after beating Manchester City. #LFC #NFOLIV

Looks like Liverpool have already hit their ceiling eh Klopp? #NUFC #LFC

Surprised, not shocked. With that #LFC lineup and their road form, there’s nothing guaranteed, even against NF. Got away w/dreadful effort v West Ham. Not today. Gomez is a disaster. Injuries up front leave them limited. Still, it’s inconceivable they didn’t score on a set piece.

"I am not sure where I should put the praise for Forest, they gave us 6 clear cut chances on set-pieces." #lfc [bt]
And after all that diving and time-wasting, no extra time added … (and why are we the early match after playing on Sunday and Wednesday?) #LFC #sigh #missedchances

Seems like those terrible days when we lost to newly promoted side almost regularly. No quality, no desire. Dear oh dear. #LFC

We’ve played like we’re 20th in the league and made Nottingham Forest look like they’re in the top four. Pathetic. Listless. #LFC #NFOLIV

Full-time as #LFC suffer their worst defeat of the season by losing at bottom-placed Nottingham Forest 1-0. They weren't very good 🔴https://t.co/05SozYTLzF

Exceptionally poor from Liverpool who never looked close to grabbing an equaliser after ex-Red Taiwo Awoniyi condemned his old side to their third league defeat of the season. Jurgen Klopp should be furious 👎 #LFC pic.twitter.com/q05nMRDDzM
Great win against City, dug in against West Ham but it looks like we’ve turned a corner into a cul de sac 🤦♂️ Well played Forest #LFC #YNWA

Also, it’s increasingly hard to think this won’t be Fabinho’s last season at #LFC. He’s been poor all year.
