Liverpool lose to Nottingham Forest: fan and pundit reactions

After beating Man City and West Ham, The Reds looked to be back on the Premier League track. Then they ran into a Forest.

It had been a very poor start to the 2022/23 season for Liverpool, especially given the standard they have set for themselves in recent years. Last year The Reds featured in an unprecedented 63 games -- all three cup finals, winning two -- and lost only four games across that incredible period. Wins against Man City and West Ham appeared to have steadied the Premier League ship on Merseyside, and arguably it has there.

The problem is away from Anfield, where a Saturday loss to bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Forest reminded everyone that there is still a lot of work to do to return the swagger.

Forest stun a disappointing Liverpool

Taiwo Awoniyi -- who signed for Liverpool at the age of 18 but never played for them -- sealed a 1-0 win with a goal in the second-half. Those three points lifted the Midlands club off the foot of the Premier League and left Jürgen Klopp’s side 11 points off Arsenal at the summit, and the Gunners have played a game less.
