Liverpool’s Mr Reliable could be leaving Anfield this summer

Juventus have put pen to paper and turned their attention to what comes next. At the start of April, the club officially announced the contract extension of Luciano Spalletti through June 2028. The Tuscan coach has more than earned that vote of confidence after guiding the team out of a difficult stretch in the league and steering them to the brink of Champions League qualification. While a few formal steps remain, the board is already planning ahead as if everything is set. Strengthening the defense is expected to be the first priority.

Is Alisson Becker leaving Liverpool?

One of the clearest paths forward is to scan the market carefully, particularly for players familiar with the manager or with a proven track record. In that context, Alisson Becker has emerged as the most appealing option. Between 2016 and 2018, the Brazilian made the jump from South America to Europe with Roma, and in his first season in Italy, he played under Spalletti.

Michele Di Gregorio, Juventus’ current starter, has shown his quality with 12 clean sheets in Serie A. Still, the atmosphere around him has been inconsistent, and a separation at the end of the season cannot be ruled out. The goalkeeper has admirers across Europe, and a sale could generate funds to pursue the experienced Brazilian from Liverpool FC, while keeping Mattia Perin in the squad, whose contract runs through June 2027.

After initial contact between Juventus executives and Alisson’s representatives, the goalkeeper is said to be open to a return to Serie A. However, his deal with Liverpool has been extended by one year through a unilateral clause activated by the English club, meaning negotiations with the Reds will be required. A first meeting is expected in Italy in the coming days, with a sense of cautious optimism as Alisson explores his options. He is aware that the club’s future No. 1 could be Giorgi Mamardashvili, for whom Liverpool paid around $32 million last summer to Valencia CF.

The main obstacle is the Brazilian’s salary: roughly $8.6 million per year plus bonuses – a figure beyond Juventus’ current structure – in addition to a transfer fee that could exceed $16 million based on early estimates. The Italian club’s proposal, for now, would be a three-year deal on reduced wages before formal talks begin with Liverpool.

If no agreement is reached, Juventus are ready with a fallback option. According to reports from Tuttosport, David de Gea could become Plan B. The Spaniard, currently with ACF Fiorentina, may be on the move as the club looks to restructure after a difficult season spent flirting with relegation. De Gea earns around $3.8 million plus bonuses, and his transfer fee would be close to $11 million, making him a more accessible alternative despite being two years older than Alisson. Juventus, wary of being caught off guard, are working on multiple fronts at once.
