Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano’s contract with Serie A champions Napoli is due to run out at the end of the 2023/24 season, with the club keen to extend the deal in order to make sure he doesn’t leave on a free transfer the following summer. However, Napoli’s proposition to Lozano is two-fold: either he takes a new deal on a reduced salary or he will sit in the stands for a year.

As a result, Lozano could, as is his desire, soon find himself on the way to another team in Europe, where there are various clubs keeping an eye on the situation. But if the situation of silence remains and Napoli do not receive any offer from Europe, they may take into account an offer from MLS.

It was said that Los Angeles Galaxy were interested in signing the player this summer as they have a Designated Player spot open in their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign, but that information was quickly marked down as a creation of the rumour mill.

LAFC did not make an offer for Lozano... but LA Galaxy did

What is true is that LAFC simply asked about the situation regarding the Mexican international, but they never got to the stage of formally presenting an offer. The team that has in fact make an offer to the Italian side from MLS was LA Galaxy, according to an AS USA source close to the club. The intention from the team led by Greg Vanney was for Chucky to sign a pre-contract before arriving stateside for free a year later.

HIrving Lozano’s next destination is in his own hands and his idea to to stay in Europe for the forseable future. However, if his situation with Napoli is not resolved soon, and a formal offer from a European club does not arrive, the Mexican forward could well see himself in no other position but to accept the offer from LA Galaxy in MLS.
