Lucas Hernández has decided that he wants to play for PSG next season. The centre-back is clear about the move and so are Bayern munich, who have begun negotiations with Les Parisiens. The 27-year-old France international believes his time in Germany is over and Paris will be his next destination if the two clubs can come to an agreement.

Bayern, who initially refused to let the 2018 World Cup winner leave, have already started working on his potential replacement. The latest reports suggest that it will be Kim Min-jae, the Napoli defender whose release clause amounts to €50 million. The German side are, right now, the favourites to bring in the Korean, despite strong interest from the Premier League, especially Manchester United.

Bayern look for replacement

The domino effect linking different clubs, even Napoli, who will have to find a replacement for Kim Min-jae, is, therefore, the key to unlocking the transfer of Lucas Hernández. Bayern need to have their replacement to let the defender leave and, once the agreement with the southern Italian side has materialised, the operation with PSG will have the green light. The fee could be in the region of €50 million despite finishing his contract next year.

Lucas, who is out of contract in 2024, already has an agreement in principle with the French champions and, AS understands that there is optimism that the deal with the Bundesliga champions will come to fruition in the coming days. The former Atlético player would be the second defensive arrival for the club, after the signing of Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, who is set to join the club as a free agent in July.

Although Bayern’s initial intention was to renew him, a meeting between PSG and the Bundesliga champions is scheduled for next week, when the transfer fee and the terms of the contract will be settled.
