Manchester City want to give Julián Álvarez a new contract
The centre-forward’s current contract runs until 2027, but the English club want to tie him down to an even more lucrative deal.
The relationship between Julián Álvarez and Manchester City is set to go one step further next week. The Argentine has still not been on English soil for a full year yet he is already negotiating a new and improved contract. His fantastic performances at the World Cup in Qatar have, to some extent, moved City into acting fast in order to tie down their player.
The current contract that Álvarez has ends in 2027, but Manchester City want to add another year to the deal, according to César Luis Merlo. His salary will also take a positive step - his performances will be rewarded in terms of a pay increase.
When is the new contract going to be agreed?
Both sides are due to meet next week to iron out the details but things are not set to take a long time as the player still has every intention of playing for the side over the coming years.
The numbers that Julián Álvarez is currently putting out in a sky-blue shirt are amazing: he has 10 goals and 3 assists in 31 games played. The statistics look even more impressive once his actual minutes played are taken into account: 1,540 from the bench. He has only started 14 times and even so, Guardiola has shown himself to be delighted with the player’s adaptation.
