Andrés Guardado looks set to leave Real Betis and return to Liga MX, where he could sign for Club León. In an interview with ABC Sevilla, Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini spoke about the departure of Guardado, acknowledging that it will be a tough loss for the club because of what he means both on and off the pitch.

“I think the departure of Andrés, if it happens, is going to be a big loss. He was the captain and demanded from everyone, as well as having a track record behind him,” said Pellegrini.

Pellegrini’s support

Pellegrini also stressed that Betis will facilitate the Mexican midfielder in his departure.

He added: “On the other hand it is normal, age adds up for all of us and Andrés has a great opportunity in Mexico to continue his career for two or three more years, to return to his country. I think he has done enough here and from my point of view, I will give him all the support and help in what I think is best for his career. We have other players in that position, and if it comes about, hopefully he has made the right decision.”
