Matt Turner signs for Arsenal: when will he join up with the squad?

The United States international goalkeeper has officially joined the Gunners on a long-term contract and will wear the No. 30 jersey.

Matt Turner was formally presented by Arsenal on Monday after signing a long-term contract and will wear the No. 30 jersey with the Gunners. The 28-year-old joined the Premier League side from the New England Revolution after making 102 appearances with the Major League Soccer side in six years.

“Watching Arsenal as a kid, I fell in love with the way the team plays and the values of this club,” Turner said on the club’s Twitter page. “It felt like a long shot, but why not dream of putting my team’s shirt on one day. So I dedicated my life to working at my game and being the best player and person that I could be. I was able to realize a dream and this is one of the days of my life.”

When will Turner join up with the Arsenal team?

The United States international will join the Gunners for pre-season training in July and will have to fight with Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno for the starting job. Turner will have to adapt quickly if he wants to gain the trust of manager Mikel Arteta, who praised the level of the American goalkeeper.

Matt is an experienced goalkeeper who will bring high quality to our squad. He has shown with his performances in recent years in both the MLS and at international level with the United States that he is a goalkeeper who will give us added strength going into next season,” said Arteta. “We welcome Matt and his family to the club and we look forward to working together in the years to come.”
