Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo. Again. The two massive soccer stars could be about to give their fans another face-to-face confrontation, if the rumours are to be believed.

According to information from the Saudi newspaper Al-Bilad, an international marketing company is looking at the possibility of organising a friendly match between Messi’s Inter Miami and Cristiano’s Al Nassr.

Messi v Ronaldo in China

Although yet to be confirmed and with no set date for the possible clash between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, speculations is that the event would take place in China as part of the marketing company’s plan that would seek to provide fans of this epic battle between two of soccer’s biggest ever names another showdown between the two.

At the start of 2023 the two legends faced each other in a friendly duel between the stars of Al Nassr and Al Hilal against PSG, with Messi still plying his tarde for the French outfit at that point. The Parisian club won that game 5-4, though Ronaldo scored two goals.

Messi and Cristiano both in fine form

In the absence of confirmation of the match and with the schedule still very much to be decided, the marketing company behind the project is clearly spurred on by the fine form both Messi and Cristiano are currently enjoying.

Despite the fact Messi has missed recent Inter Miami matches, including Wednesday’s Open Cup final, due to injury (old scar tissue from a hamstring injury flaring up), since his arrival in South Florida, the Argentine has already won the Leagues Cup, in addition to scoring 11 goals in the 12 matches he’s played for coach Tata Martino’s team.

Cristiano Ronaldo meanwhile has also been on fine form for his team, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in the nine games so far in the Saudi Arabia season.
