We’re well past the halfway point of the Clausura 2023 and after ten games, Monterrey, on 25 points still lead the way and maintain their four point advantage over second placed Tigres for another week after their 3-0 home win over Juárez.

Club América fell at home on Saturday to third place Pachuca and the surprise 0-3 home loss saw ‘Las Aguilas’ give up their status as only undefeated side in the current campaign.

Tigres remain in second place with in-form Chivas currently holding the final place that would secure an automatic place in the post-season playoffs.

Teams who end the season from fifth-twelfth place enter a wild card round before the quarter-final of play-off takes places to resolve which four additional sides will join the top four.

Cruz Azul and Pumas are both struggling this season with ‘Los Cementeros’ falling to bottom side Mazatlan who recorded their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at home. Pumas fell to Puebla in a 2-4 goal fest at the the Estadio Olimpico Universitario and the two CDMX giants occupy 11th and 12th places in the table.

Despite winning the Apertura in 2021 and Clausura in 2022, Atlas are still struggling as they did last season with the side from Guadalajara only managing a draw this weekend and with just 9 points from ten games, everything things points to another short season for ‘Los Zorros’.
