The Águilas del América, were four games away from breaking the initial streak of twelve unbeaten games that the side from Coapa managed twice in the past: the first time, 98 years ago in the 1925-26 campaign and then in the 1982-83 season with Saturday’s defeat to Pachuca ending any hopes of repeating or breaking the record

Before the Liga MX 2023 Clausura game at the Azteca, América were the only unbeaten team in the league having recorded four wins and five draws in the opening games despite being some distance behind table topping Monterrey.
