The controversy continues to surround Neymar after Brazil’s 1-1 draw to Venezuela in Cuiabá. When the players left the pitch to go to the dressing room, a fan hit the forward on the head with a bag of popcorn, causing Neymar to react and end up being dragged into the dressing room.

However, it appears that the Al Hilal forward’s anger did not stop there, and the tense situation was taken into the tunnel, with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) President, Ednaldo Rodrigues, reportedly involved.

‘Neymar went in on the President of the CBF’

According to Brazilian journalist, José Carlos Araújo, known as ‘Garotinho’, Neymar stood up to Rodrigues, insulted him and spoke angrily about the CBF taking the game to the city of Cuiabá, which is situated in the very centre of South America and is known as the gateway to the wetlands.

“When the game finished, and Neymar was hit with the bag of popcorn, in the dressing room tunnel, he came face to face with the CBF President and insulted him, calling him X, Y and Z, and that he [Rodrigues] takes the team to these places to do these things and be insulted by the fans”, said Araújo after the event.

Neymar went in on the President of the CBF with all sorts of bad words”, he continued, “they held him back instantly then Neymar threatened that he ‘won’t go to Montevideo’ and they also had to calm him down”.

Did Neymar travel with Brazil to Uruguay?

The supposed threat from Neymar has not gone any further, it seems, as the former Barcelona forward did in fact travel to Uruguay where they will take on Marcelo Bielsa’s team in the fourth round of the South American World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

Brazil arrive at the game with 6 points, after winning against Bolivia and getting a point against both Peru and Venezuela. Bielsa’s Uruguay, for their part, sit on 4 points after a win over Chile, a loss in Ecuador and a draw against Colombia.
