While his future at PSG remains up in the air as everyone waits to see the plan of action from Luis Enrique, Neymar decided to give an interview to BandSports, in which he spoke about the rumours surrounding Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti and the links with the Brazilian National Team.

The 31-year-old began by speaking about the operation on his ankle that kept him out of action for various months: “It’s horrible being injured and not playing. I like playing a lot, being on the pitch. It’s already hard enough not playing for one game, so imagine being out for 4 to 5 months! It’s terrible. I miss it. I was born to do this, to play football.”

‘I have never shirked away from any responsibilities’

PSG wanted to sell the player in the winter market after the 2022 World Cup, but the arrival of Luis Enrique could halt those plans from going any further. Neymar spoke about the criticism that he has suffered and the pressure he is under, saying “I have never shirked away from any responsibilities”.

“It’s the opposite”, he continued, “I always hit my chest and say ‘keep going, you can hit me again’. I know my talent, I know what I am capable of. Football is not an individual sport. If it were, I would have already achieved my objectives, but that’s not the case. As for the critics away from the pitch, sometimes I don’t agree because they can affect my personal life and I do what I want.”

Carlo Ancelotti ‘a priority’ for Brazil, says Neymar

The ex-Barcelona player knows well Brazil’s plans for the future, who are keen on signing Carlo Ancelotti as their manager, something which was confirmed by the player. “I know it’s the priority of the National Team. The President wants to sign him and as players we also want it to happen. For myself, for Vini, for Militão.”

“We all know him, we know how amazing he is”, he said, “to have him in the team would be very important. But there is nothing confirmed as of yet. We hope that he comes after his contract ends”. Before finishing, Neymar also remarked that he would “love to retire at Santos”, potentially hinting about his future in football and what lies ahead for the forward.
