When is Mbappé's Real Madrid presentation? Date, time, details

It’s now official, next Tuesday, 16 July, at 12:00 p.m (local time) and 6am ET, Kylian Mbappé will be unveiled as a new Real Madrid player at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The event is set to eclipse previous high profile presentations (Beckham, Ronaldo and Kaka) with 81,000 fans expected at the Chamartin Stadium in an event that will open a new chapter in the French striker’s career.

There was some degree of speculation if the event would be staged on 15 July or the following day but on Wednesday, the club issued official confirmation relating to the precise time and date:

“Real Madrid C. F. is pleased to announce that Kylian Mbappé will be presented at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Tuesday 16 July at noon.President of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, will welcome Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid City for the formal signing of the contract that links our new player to the club for the next five seasons.

Following the presentation, Kylian Mbappé will speak to the media in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu”.

Despite the fact that the striker has been on the Real Madrid books officially since the beginning of the month, the club have only today begun to sell replica shirts bearing his name and No. 9 squad number. The club were hesitant in confirming the number the French forward would use but as of now, fans can order jerseys via the club’s official fan shop and other official retail outlets.

Medical at Valdebebas

Following the French national team’s defeat in Munich at the hands of Spain in the Euro 2024 semi-final, Mbappé is having a few days away from the spotlight. “I need to rest and then start a new life,” he said in the mixed zone at the Allianz Arena, after the defeat against ‘La Roja’. He now has several days of downtime before Tuesday, when he is first expected at the club’s Valdebebas Ciudad Deportiva, where he will undergo a medical revision and get the small matter of contract signing out of the way with club president Florentino Perez before making the short journey to the heart of the city and the iconic Estadio Bernabéu.

Presentation time

Mbappé will then sport the famous white jersey for the first time ever and take to the pitch at the stadium with the roof doing its job in protecting the fans and media from an expected stifling temperature of 35C-95F. The showpiece presentation event will be accompanied by live music, the presence of several Real Madrid “legends” and a massive fireworks show to celebrate the arrival of the Frenchman.

Upon the conclusion of the presentation, the 25-year-old will make his way to the stadium’s press room and offer his first full interview as a Real Madrid player before taking some much needed vacation. There is also speculation that he may need minor surgery on the broken nose sustained during the group stage of Euro 2024. The striker is then expected to join his teammates for pre-season activity in early August and everything points to his debut for the club coming in Warsaw on 14 August as Madrid face Europa League winners Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.
