A rare role promises a front-row seat to soccer’s biggest stage, but the demands go far beyond simply watching.

$1,300 per day World Cup 2026 fan prize up for grabs this summer: “it will be historic”
As the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada draws closer, major broadcasters are fine-tuning their plans to deliver a standout experience for millions of fans, both inside stadiums and beyond. With that goal in mind, Fox has unveiled an unusual opportunity aimed directly at supporters – a paid role built around experiencing the tournament in full.
In partnership with Indeed, the U.S. network has announced a nationwide search for a “Chief World Cup Watcher,” a position designed for fans who see this tournament as a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The idea is simple but ambitious: find one candidate willing to dedicate themselves entirely to following the competition from start to finish.
The role comes with a one-time payment of $50,000 for the duration of the tournament. In essence, the selected fan will be paid to watch games throughout the World Cup, turning what is typically a passion into a full-time assignment.
What the ‘Chief World Cup Watcher’ role involves
Fox explained that, alongside Fox One and Indeed, it is seeking someone capable of watching all 104 games of the tournament from a specially designed viewing suite in Times Square, New York. The chosen candidate will spend all 39 days of the World Cup in that space – that’s $1,282 per day – taking in every match while surrounded by thousands of tourists in one of the busiest locations in the world.

Beyond simply watching, the job includes producing social media content that will be shared across the network’s official platforms, effectively turning the fan into a live storyteller of the tournament.
“This FIFA World Cup will be a historic tournament that requires an equally historic hire. A committed candidate will land the job of a lifetime to experience and celebrate every story, every nation and every thrilling moment that defines the world’s game,” said Robert Gottlieb, Fox’s president of marketing.
How to apply for Fox’s World Cup role
Applications are now open and will remain available until May 17, when submissions close via Indeed. Interested candidates must either create or already have an Indeed profile, ideally with a background in journalism or content creation, and ensure their profile is visible to recruiters from Fox and Indeed.
The final step requires applicants to submit a video showcasing their content creation skills while explaining why this role represents their dream job.
