Guillermo Ochoa is readying himself for his second spell in Europe, as Salernitana became interested in his services after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This move sees the Mexican goalkeeper join compatriot Hirving Lozano as the Aztec players arrive in the Italian Serie A.

Ochoa joins Lozano in Serie A

Although all the details regarding his contract are not yet official, the journalist Nicolo Schira, who specialises in transfer dealings, indicated on his Twitter account that Memo had signed a contract for 400,000 euros (€1 = $1.06) which, converted to Mexican currency is 8,800,000 pesos... for just six months of playing with the Italian team.

In fact, the former América goalkeeper has already arrived in Italy to complete the paperwork and be able to formally link up with Salernitana, a team that was fighting to avoid relegation in Serie A, however, is currently in 12th position in the general table with 17 points.

The team from Salerno has already moved a long way from the drop zone, sitting above Cremonese, in 18th place in the table, by 10 points, and ahead of Hellas Verona and Sampdoria, by 11 points.

Ochoa’s European pedigree

There is no doubt that Ochoa is a player with a lot of experience, and still with plenty of the talent that took him to Europe for his first experience in the Old Continent with Ajaccio in France. Later he arrived in Spain playing for Málaga and Granada, before a spell at Standard Liege in Belgium. From there it was back to the Mexican game with América.
