Just seven games after making his senior debut for Barcelona, Marc Guiu is packing his bags to set off to England. The Catalans attempts to persuade the teenage centre-forward to renew terms were in vain, and Chelsea didn’t hesitate - only too happy to pay his 6 million euro buy-out clause.

The Londoners heralded the move across their social media outlets with a simple message: “Guiu is Chelsea,” .

How long is Marc Guiu’s contract with Chelsea?

Guiu joins the Blues on a five-year deal (until June 2029), with the option of extending his relationship with the club for one more season. A project, which Enzo Maresca will lead from the bench, motivates the former FC Barcelona player: “It is an immense joy to sign for Chelsea,” the player beamed. “I had a hard time sleeping before the trip here because I was very excited, the Premier League was a dream!

Marc Guiu made his debut with Barcelona’s first team in the 1-0 LaLiga win against Athletic Club on 22 October 2023, replacing Fermín López for the last 10 minutes. He was given another run-out three days later, coming on for João Félix in the Champions League Matchday 3 group game against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Xavi handed him his first start in the Week 28 LaLiga home game against Mallorca. Guiu lead the line in attack for the first hour, before making way for Robert Lewandowski.

With a contract until June 2025, the young Spanish forward was a market opportunity for several big teams in Europe, and Chelsea has ended up being the quickest off the mark
