The draw for the 2024 Copa América, which will be held in the United States from 20 June to 14 July, took place at the James L. Knight Center in Miami on Thursday and threw up a number of intriguing match-ups for the nations involved.

Which teams will Panama face in the group stage?

The Panama national team, led by former Barcelona B team player Thomas Christiansen, was drawn in Group C alongside the hosts, the USMNT, and fellow World Cup regulars Uruguay, who will be the two favourites to finish in the top two. Bolivia are the fourth team in the section.

2024 Copa América Group C

  1. United States
  2. Uruguay
  3. Panama
  4. Bolivia

When are Panama’s 2024 Copa América fixtures?

Panama's 2024 Copa América fixtures

  • Matchday 1 - Uruguay vs Panama - Hard Rock Stadium (Miami Gardens) - June 23
  • Matchday 2 - Panama vs United States - Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta) - June 27
  • Matchday 3 - Bolivia vs Panama - Exploria Stadium (Orlando) - July 1

If Panama beat the United States, Uruguay and Bolivia to first place in Group C, they will face the runners-up from Group D (Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay or the sixth CONCACAF qualifier 6, either Honduras or Costa Rica) in the quarter-finals. Should they finish second, they would face the winner of that same group.

“I think we have improved a lot and we are in a good place at the moment. Emotionally, the players believe they are capable of competing against big teams. We have achieved our objectives, we missed the last World Cup, but we’ve qualified for everything since then and reaching the last Gold Cup final was also important,” Christiansen told TUDN ahead of the draw.
