The draw for the 2024 Copa América took place on Thursday at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida.

The 14 qualified teams, and the four who’s fate still hangs in the balance, discovered their group stage rivals for next summer’s tournament. The competition is organised by CONMEBOL but will feature the participation of six guests from CONCACAF.

Among these CONCACAF guests, USMNT stands out. The 2024 hosts booked their place in the Copa América after beating Trinidad and Tobago in the quarterfinals of the Nations League last month. Prior to the draw, it was announced that the United States had been placed in Group C.

The group stage for the United States will begin on June 23 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas against Bolivia. They then travel to Atlanta, Georgia to face Panama at Mercedes Benz Stadium, before closing out the group stage at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City against Uruguay.

USMNT Copa America fixtures

Matchday 1 - United States vs Bolivia - June 23 at AT&T Stadium.
Matchday 2 - United States vs Panama - June 27 at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Matchday 3 - United States vs Uruguay - July 1 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Who could USMNT play in the quarter-finals?

If the USMNT advances top of Group C, it will face the second place team in Group D (Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Honduras/Costa Rica) on July 6 in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Berhalter’s men advance second in the group, they travel to Glendale, Arizona to face the Group D winners, which could well be Brazil, on July 6 at State Farm Stadium.

After the draw, US coach Gregg Berhalter was upbeat about the prospect of facing the impressive Uruguay in the group stages.

“We always knew that was going to be a possibility. That was obviously the hardest team in Pool 2. For me, it’s an opportunity. They’re gonna be a very aggressive team, a really good challenge for our group,” he said.

“If you take care of business in the first two games, which will be difficult games, you set up winner takes all.”
