Positive Pulisic signs in Milan bode well for USMNT

Christian Pulisic continues to respond to the trust Stefano Pioli has placed in him at Milan. The United States forward did not score in Milan’s 3-0 win over Empoli, but he provided another assist contributing to the third goal of the Rossoneri, thus maintaining their third position in Serie A. The U.S. star drove the ball forward to orchestrate Milan’s counterattack and handed his Ivorian teammate Chaka Traoré, unmarked entering the box, a chance to add the icing.

Pulisic now has six goals and five assists since joining the Italian team last summer, confirming his great form a few months ahead of the challenges with the U.S. national team. “Christian Pulisic is a great player. He has quality, intensity, and readiness,” Stefano Pioli said at the end of 2023. “He’s scoring several goals, which is not easy for a winger. He can play in different positions and is fantastic in preparing for matches and seizing his opportunities.”

Pulisic, the hope of the USMNT

It’s a busy year ahead for the United States national team, and especially for Pulisic. The Copa América is the main challenge Gregg Berhalter’s team will face this summer, led by the Milan forward. Captain America finished last year with five goals and an assist in matches played for the Stars and Stripes, despite missing the last two games against Trinidad and Tobago due to an injury he seems to have overcome, now ready to take a leading role.

The United States will aim for a third consecutive Concacaf Nations League title on 21 March when they face Jamaica in the semifinals, and then take on the challenge of playing the Copa América as hosts, facing Bolivia, Panama, and Uruguay.

Additionally, at the club level, Pulisic will face another challenge with Milan in the Europa League, after finishing third in their Champions League group, earning the consolation prize of competing for a title.
