Possible América line-up vs Cruz Azul on Clausura 2023 matchday 15

Club América take on Mexico City rivals Cruz Azul in clash that could prove crucial to their hopes of securing an automatic Liga MX playoff place.

Club América face Cruz Azul in a Mexico City derby today, as Las Águilas bid to take another step closer to sealing direct qualification for the Clausura 2023 playoffs proper.

Given how tight it is at the top of the regular-season standings, Fernando Ortiz’s third-placed side will likely need all three points to avoid slipping down the table.

Zendejas set to start in unchanged América side

América look likely to line up against Cruz Azul with the same team that began last week’s 2-1 win over Clausura 2023 leaders Monterrey.

Despite breaking his nose in that game, winger Alejandro Zendejas is fit to play this weekend and is in line to start. The 25-year-old United States international is expected to wait until the end of the tournament before having surgery on the injury.
