Possible Real Madrid line-up vs Cádiz on LaLiga matchday 29

Carlo Ancelotti is set to make changes to his team with the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea coming up.

There are only three days until Real Madrid face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League but first, they must take on Cádiz at Nuevo Mirandilla in LaLiga. It’s a game that Los Blancos should win, on paper at least, but ‘The Yellow Submarine’ aren’t too unhappy with how things are going for them at the moment and will provide a stern test. Carlo Ancelotti and his men will undoubtedly have one eye on the clash in London, with only 90 minutes separating them from yet another European semi-final.

They’re behind you!

With Barcelona 13 points clear at the top of the table, there may be relatively little to play for in the league other than pride, but pride of is utmost importance when you are Real Madrid. And, it mustn’t be forgotten, city rivals Atlético Madrid are now just two points behind them in third place...

Toni Kroos and Vinícius not risked

Ancelotti is set to rest a number of players ahead of the midweek trip but will still name a strong side expected to win the game. Toni Kroos and Vinícius Júnior will definitely not be involved after suffering minor strains in training this week. Both are expected to return to face Chelsea.

Vinícius’ absence is likely to see Rodrygo line up on the left flank, his favoured position but one in which he has rarely had an opportunity to shine. Vinícius has played 93% of Real Madrid’s total minutes this season, more than any other member of the roster but in Cádiz, his compatriot will finally get his chance, for one night only. Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema will complete the front three, with the Frenchman finally back to full fitness. He is likely to be taken off at some stage, with forgotten man Eden Hazard the main attacking option on the bench.

Valverde or Camavinga in midfield?

The main question in midfield is whether Fede Valverde or Eduardo Camavinga start. Both started against Chelsea on Wednesday and are expected to keep their places for the return leg. Aurélien Tchouaméni, who isn’t in good form and could do with making the most of having the chance to play, and Dani Ceballos are set to play from the off. Along with Luka Modric, Eder Militão is likely to be rested, which means Lucas Vázquez, Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba and Nacho should line up from right to left.

Real Madrid’s possible XI to face Cádiz

Courtois; Vázquez, Rüdiger, Alaba, Nacho; Tchouameni, Ceballos, Valverde or Camavinga; Asensio, Benzema, Rodrygo.
