PSG made its move for Rodri. His answer was immediate.
The Spanish midfielder turned down interest from the Parisian club without even hearing the offer. His plans lie elsewhere.
A call from PSG to Rodri as he weighs up his future had the potential to change the Spanish midfielder’s plans. The French champions’ strong interest joined approaches from other clubs, as well as two contract extension offers from Manchester City that the World Cup winner is currently considering. But his response to the club led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi was clear and emphatic: “No, thank you.”
The Spain captain did not even listen to the terms of the proposal put forward by PSG. While he appreciates the interest from Europe’s top club, his current thinking is taking him in a different direction. With just one year remaining on his contract and fresh off an outstanding World Cup campaign, Rodri wants to decide his future on his own terms. A return to Spain is one possibility, while staying at Manchester City also remains an option if the conditions are right.
Rodri has no desire to play in Saudi Arabia or the MLS
Now 30 years old, Rodri believes his next move could be the one that crowns an extraordinary career. He has no desire to play in Saudi Arabia or MLS, with sporting and personal ambitions taking priority over everything else. The coming days will be crucial in determining his next step.
It will not be Paris, by his own choice. Le Parisien has already reported that Rodri will not be joining Luis Enrique’s side. Despite the club’s strong interest, there was never any real chance of a deal.
