The transfer market merry-go-round continues to swirl and the latest creation that it has churned out seems to be a big one: Kylian Mbappé's replacement at PSG. The French club still do not know where the future of the French forward lies, but it seems that the player chosen to be the new attacking focal point has already been given the green light: Gonçalo Ramos.

The Portuguese striker plays for Benfica, and the club is said by RMC Sport to be negotiating with PSG over a possible transfer, information that has been able to be confirmed by AS.

The striker, at 21-years-old, played 30 times for Benfica in the 2023/23 season, and scored 19 goals in the league, 27 in all competitions, and got 12 assists. He also shone for Portugal during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where his positive performances led Cristiano Ronaldo to start games on the bench in place of the younger forward, who has 4 goals in 7 games for his national side.

How much would Gonçalo Ramos cost PSG?

PSG had been heavily linked with Randal Kolo Muani, a striker from Eintracht Frankfurt who also shone at the Qatar tournament, almost scoring in the final against Argentina. However, it seems as though negotiations for Ramos have accelerated over the past few hours and are now well advanced, and Kolo Muani’s deal has been put on the back-burner.

The fee that is being talked about for the forward sits somewhere in the region of €70 million, with variables taking the total up to €80 million.

PSG have other concerns in the squad

Kylian Mbappé's future is still up in the air at PSG, with the forward training away from the rest of his teammates, who are on a pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea. The forward has publicly assured that he wishes to see out the remaining year of his PSG contract, which would see him leave on a free in 2024. However, reports suggest that the player is actually not content at his current club.

Neymar is another player who is causing PSG concern, with the Brazilian still recovering from an ankle injury he sustained in March. The forward has not yet featured for the French side under Luis Enrique, despite being taken to Japan for the tour.
