Update:

PSG vs Bayern: Champions League as it happened

That's all, folks!

Until tomorrow, of course, when Arsenal take on Atlético Madrid in Spain.

No pressure, guys.

And here's how Sofascore saw that madness

One million shots, one million xG, one million goals, one million everything.

It did not disappoint

A new record when it comes to semi-final goals. Even I've got cramp after that one.

Full-time instant reaction:

The saddest part about tonight is that we have to wait 8 days for the second game!

What a simply sensationalgame of football. From start to finish, both teams went out to win the game with fantastic football that flowed from the boots of every player involved.

Attack won over defence in this 9-goal spectacle that gives us plenty to dissect and discuss in the coming days as we await the second leg in Germany!

FT:

90+4

And there's the final whistle!

EVERYONE BREATHE!

90+4

Pacho heads away!

90+4

Bayern win a corner...

90+3

Bayern change:

OFF: Pavlovic

ON: Nico Jackson

90+3

The PSG goalkeeper is now down...

90+2

Safonov catches Kimmich's searching cross as Bayern push. PSG take a moment to breathe.

90+1

Kane tries his luck from range but the shot is never really on and it rolls into the grasp of a thankful Safonov.

90

4 minutes of added time.

90

We're into the final minute.

89

Fortunately, Hakimi is back on his feet, the magic sponge working well.

A slight tumble in an earlier battle with Laimer appears to be the cause of Hakimi's pain.

88

Achraf is down and play is stopped: it doesn't look good.

87

OFF THE BAR!

PSG, of course, just as I say they have no threat.

Mayulu found space in behind Bayern's defence and was fed by Vitinha before striking the woodwork from a tight angle.

86

PSG's counter-attacking threat has dropped off over the past 10/15 minutes, with fatigue surely setting in.

84

CHANCE MISSED. João Neves loses the ball in the middle of the pitch and Bayern counter with Olise. He reaches the edge of the box, cuts inside, and lofts a confusing ball over the defence as his teammates question his decision.

83

PSG changes:

OFF: Kvaratskhelia, Mendes

ON: Hernández, Mayulu

81

Lucas Hernández is preparing to come on; Nuno Mendes has just collapsed with cramp.

80

Olise whips in a free-kick from wide and Safonov literally does a Superman dive through the crowd of at least 10 players to try and punch it away. Of course, it's a simply absurd idea, and luckily his teammate heads away.

79

Bayern change:

OFF: Musiala

ON: Goretzka

78

Fabián is booked for a foul on Olise, who is being a complete pest.

77

Olise darts into the box and flicks a couple of stepovers before seeing his cross hoofed away.

75

Barcola has come on for Doué, by the way.

74

Safonov gets a crucial hand to a header at the back post from Tah.

72

Bayern are still pressing PSG back, and have seen a succession of corners headed away.

70

Twenty to go...

A ball over the top was collected by Díaz, who controlled beautifully and slotted past Safonov. He looked offside at first viewing, but VAR showed otherwise!

GOAL GIVEN

Wow, the goal is given after a VAR check!

OFFSIDE!

IT WON'T COUNT!

69

GOOOOOAAAALLLLLL!!

DÍAZ SCORES!!!!

MY OH MY!!!

67

Safonov punches away this time.

66

Bayern get another free-kick, exactly where he just clipped in towards Upamecano...

A free-kick is clipped in by Kimmich, and it looks like Upamecano's eyebrows get a touch on the ball before it bounces past the goalkeeper. I think he touched it, but even so his presence was enough to trick Safonov and give Bayern a lifeline.

65

GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL

BAYERN SCORE!!!!!

BUT I DON'T KNOW WHO SCORED

64

PSG change:

OFF: Zaire-Emery

ON: Fabián

62

Luis Díaz almost scores goal of the season number four of tonight. Olise plays out wide and he slides past three defenders before being forced to jump over Safonov, who smothers the ball like an armadillo holding an apple with all its might.

61

I want to know if anyone had any money on a 0-0. Get in touch. Free hugs on offer.

60

Back underway. The noise. Oh, the noise.

DEMBÉLÉ! SUBLIME!

It's 3vs 2 as Doué and Dembélé push Bayern back.

The Ballon d'Or holder takes the ball on the left, ducks inside and hits a low effort in at the near post that clips the inside of the woodwork and spins into the back of net. Neuer can only stand and watch.

58

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL

DEMBÉLÉ GOLAZOOOOOOOOOO

A sublime counter is started by Vitinha who plays out to the right side. The ball is fired across the box and the Georgian is there to smash the ball into the back of the net!

56

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAALLLLLLLLLLLLL

KVARATSKHELIA SCORES!!!

55

Laimer, who has been very much involved since the restart, sends a shot just behind after nice work again from Díaz down the left.

Bayern are finding ways to play through PSG at the moment.

54

Luis Díaz clips a ball over the PSG defence to Kimmich, who can't find Kane just yards out from goal.

53

And 30 seconds later, exactly the same thing happens to Safonov: Bayern push PSG back and his clearance lands in the stands.

52

PSG'spress pushes Bayern back to Neuer, who spoons a long ball out for a throw.

51

A big penalty shout for PSG as Upamecano takes the ball from Kvaratskhelia inside the box. On second viewing, the winger's boot connects with the defender after he pulled his leg back for a shot.

Nothing given.

50

Musiala wins a free-kick in his own half after an over-eager challenge from Pacho. I'd say that the German is the only player yet to find his feet in the game.

48

Like in the first half, Bayern are asserting some early control, managing to keep possession despite PSG's squeezing.

46

Both sides have come out flying, and the presses are simply suffocating.

46

Second half underway!

Bayern get us going.

HT

Bayern change:

OFF: Davies

ON: Laimer

Here come the players!

The two sides are back on the pitch and we're ready for the second half.

Was it a penalty?

The Davies penalty decision will be the talking topic of the night, unless something utterly wild occurs in the second 45.

For me, given the fact that the ball appears to deflect off his body before hitting his hand, the decision is extremely harsh.

Breathtaking is the word!

It's been a wild game of football that has not only provided us with 5 goals, but a huge amount to talk about.

Half-time run around the block, anyone?

Maybe it will shake off the adrenaline. This is Godzilla against King Kong. Ali vs Foreman. Optimus Prime vs Megatron.

Normally, huge clashes end up disappointing, with nerves and tactical details taking precedence over actual action. Not this time.

We've already had a classic. Even if the two teams come out for the second half with deck chairs drinking non-alcoholic caipirinhas, I wouldn't go home upset.

45+6

Half-time!

I need a lie down.

The Ballon d'Or holder smashed the penalty to his right, and although Neuer dived correctly and made contact, it was too much to push past the post.

45+5

GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAALLLLL

DEMBÉLÉ SCORES!!!!

A chance for PSG to go into the break with a huge advantage.

PENALTY!

Well, well, well... I did not expect that!

The referee is looking at the screen, and it appears that the ball deflects off his body before hitting his hand.

It's one of those: Davies' hand touches the ball, but it looks about as natural as you could imagine.

45+2

VAR is speaking to the referee as they check the footage of Davies' arm as he blocked the cross.

45+1

Huge shouts for handball as Dembélé's cross is blocked...

45

Into the final minute of normal time. Breathe.

43

Back underway. Again.

The ball is popped into Olise on the edge of the box as the PSG midfield give him just too much room to take possession, spin on a sixpence, and thunder a ferocious effort into the roof of the net as the defence back away.

Luis Enrique won't be happy with that one, but you have to admire the movement and the strike itself.

41

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL

OLIIIISSSEEEEE GOLAZO

40

Five to go of normal time in this crazy game.

40

Hmmm, Kvaratskhelia appears to be holding his hamstring, and the PSG bench have launched out into the technical area to discuss their next move.

This game has totally flipped since PSG's first goal: the home side are buzzing, and look full to the brim with confidence.

36

HUGE CHANCE. Díaz cuts the ball back after a sensational run, but again nobody is there...

34

Back underway and PSG come racing out with Dembélé's shot blocked by Upamecano!

A corner is whipped in and it's perhaps the shortest player on the pitch who sends the header from the first post into the far end of the net!

33

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAALLLLLLLL

PSG ARE AHEAD

JOÃO NEVES HEADER

21

CHANCE! Olise almost scores the goal of his life as he darts inside from the right, taking on a million defenders, only for his shot from a tight angle to come off the post.

30

Ouch. Dembélé unleashes a thunderbolt from the edge of the box that appears to hit Pavlovic in the work of the divine potter. He crashes to the floor and is still there...

28

A couple of sloppy passes from both sides see possession moves break down. And that's OK, I think everyone needs a bit of a rest right now.

26

Back underway. Game on.

I'm not going to explain what happened apart from tell you it was a typical Kvaratskhelia goal.

OK, I'll explain.

The ball is played down the left wing and the winger goes up against Stanisic, sending him one way and the other before cutting inside and curling a perfect effort into the far post.

You see? You already knew exactly how he scored!

25

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL

KVARATSKHELIA SCORES

THE PARC DE PRINCES EXPLODES

23

HUGE CHANCE! Dembélé is released like a greyhound and he's in behind the Bayern defence, one vs one with Neuer... and his shot is spooned well wide of the goal. Could've fit five fridges between the ball and the post as it flew behind into the stands.

23

Pacho brings down Kane and that's the frustration coming out for a side who are currently failing to get a grip of things.

21

Bayern are in charge here: another flowing move ends with a delicious Díaz ball across the box that nobody takes advantage of. PSG's heads are spinning on their necks; they don't know what's happening, never mind how to stop it.

20

OFF THE LINE! PSG lose the ball in their own defensive third. Kane slips Olise through and it's a last-gasp Marquinhos intervention that stops the Germans making it two goals in two minutes.

19

Back underway. The away end is jubilant.

Kane goes to his right, so does Safonov. Advantage Bayern.

17

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAALLLLL

BAYERN TAKE THE LEAD

Kane to take, obviously.

A slick move from Bayern ended with a clumsy challenge from Pacho, who tangles with Díaz's legs and that's a penalty.

16

PENALTY TO BAYERN!!!

Pacho brings down Luis Díaz!

15

CLOSE. A delightful move from PSG swipes from right to left, with Kvaratiskhelia's cross headed away by Upamecano.

14

CLOSE. Pavlovic's corner is whipped in towards the PSG goal and Safonov gets an important hand to the ball!

13

Bayern counter the counter, and Marquinhos is given an early yellow card for bringing down Díaz.

12

PSG counter and Dembélé is brought down in the box... but it's nothing to moan about, says the referee.

11

Kimmich plays the free-kick out wide to Olise, who tries his best Maradona impression, eventually losing out to Doué inside the box.

10

Kane is tripped by Zaire-Emery in the middle of the pitch, and despite his theatrical rolling, he's just made a miraculous recovery.

9

I've just checked out Kompany in the stands and he's come looking as suave as ever, with a solid Y-3 cap on his head.

8

Kvaratskhelia pops the ball through Olise's legs and plays down the left to Doué, who whips in a low cross that is sent into the Parisian sunset.

7

Bayern are pressing in a 4-3-3, with Kane taking care of directing the ball between the centre-backs, where his teammates can then close in behind.

5

Olise wins the first battle against Mendes down the wing, and he is able to fire in a low cross that's saved by Safonov.

3

A huge cheer for Zaire-Emery as he clatters into Olise on the edge of the PSG box, giving no time for the attacker to think.

Díaz vs Achraf is one to watch, as the winger has already found himself with a lot of space ahead of him as the defender pushes on.

2

PSG's press is man-to-man and incredibly aggressive as Bayern try to get their first few touches of the ball.

Is that the earliest moan in a game of football?

1

And as is football in 2026, it's hoofed straight out for a throw-in.

1

And we're off!

Champions League semi-final underway!

The Chaaaampiioooons!

The flappy starball in the middle of the pitch is being waved at phenomenal speeds, and there is a now a long line of serious-looking players ready to get going.

I think I even heard the PSG fans singing the Champions League anthem.

Players in the tunnel!

The smoke from the flares and fire show (yes, a fire show) is colouring the Parisian sky as we await the two teams.

OK, that's amazing

I said the PSG fans were making a good noise, but they've just turned it up a level with a superb tifo - and the Bayern fans have got one as well!

What a noise!

The fans are making a fine noise as we wait on the players who are set to emerge from the tunnel any moment now.

Ten to go!

The players are leaving the field of play to head down the tunnel for the final team talks before kick-off!

A reminder of the starting XIs:

PSG: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, João Neves; Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé, Doué

BAYERN: Neuer, Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Davies; Pavlovic, Kimmich, Musiala; Olise, Díaz, Kane

A legend speaks, and we listen

They're the best team in Europe right now, they're showing it every day and Luis Enrique is doing amazing things.

The players know that if they win, they're in the final, it's the hardest thing to do.

PSG and Bayern play in similar ways. It's hard to adapt to what Bayern do. But PSG have slightly more individual quality, and because of that they have an advantage in this tie.

Claude Makélélé, Former PSG player

While we wait...

Here's a look back at an extraordinary golazo from Mr George Weah, known for being the only African Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year winner in history, as well as the 25th President of Liberia.

Did you know?

Today is the first day all season that PSG have a full senior squad available, with no injuries to first-team players to report.

A huge noise for PSG!

The home side have taken to the pitch ahead of kick-off to get on with their pre-game warmup and we've just had our first taste of the fantastic noise that can be generated inside the ground!

PSG task tonight: stopping the unstoppable

Kane's goal record speaks for itself, and at present he's the Ballon d'Or favourite as we enter the final stage of the season.

Of course, the World Cup will largely determine the outcome of the top individual award, but right now it's for everyone else to shorten their own odds and catch up to Kane.

Curious choices from Kompany

I wouldn't have disagreed with you had you suspected that Kompany was set to leave out both Musiala and Davies from his starting XI against PSG tonight, but he's put them both in.

This is certainly a positive move from the manager who looks ready to let his side loose in France against a tough opponent.

Players on the pitch!

Don't scramble just yet, it's only the warmups, but it means that we're edging closer to kick-off in France.

The excitement is building in and around the stadium, with the turnstiles now open and fans finding their seats in the sun.

What happened in the quarter-finals: Bayern

FC Bayern took on 15-time European champions Real Madrid in the previous round.

The first leg, at the Bernabéu, was a tight affair, with Bayern ultimately showing their class and winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Luis Díaz and Harry Kane.

Arbeloa's side went into the second leg with hope, but the feeling was always there that the Germans had the edge over their opponents.

The second leg was the maddest game we've seen all season, with both sides putting on a display for the ages, playing out an astonishing 4-3 win to Bayern. Late goals from Luis Díaz and Olise hit the top corners of Lunin's net to put Real Madrid out of the competition and set up a tie with the holders.

Inside the Bayern dressing room

Here's how things look inside the Bayern dressing room ahead of the game tonight in France.

Luis Enrique pre-game:

Tomorrow will be a lottery. Everyone is ready. It doesn’t matter which player is on the pitch. Tomorrow I’ll do what I always do: pick the best players to start the game. And, be careful, to win the semifinal, we will need every player who can play. In that sense, we’re more than ready.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

I think it’s the other way around. If there are teams that attack well, you have to know how to defend. The key? It will be attacking in the best possible way and knowing how to defend against this kind of team. What is clear is that it’s an attractive game for all football fans. And both teams are having a good season.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

All coaches try to reach the final part of the season in the best possible condition. We’re in the semifinals and all the players are ready. The rest are ready. Everyone wants to play. And we want to enjoy these knockout ties. Whether you arrive in better or worse shape depends on a lot of things. It isn’t down to chance. We’re happy to be here.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

The fans have confidence. That’s positive. For me, there are no favorites in these games. It was the same against Chelsea and Liverpool, when we weren’t favorites either. When you get to these games, the small details will be important. You have to be ready for any scenario. We deserve to be here. We have confidence. But, at the same time, we know how difficult it is to play against Bayern.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

A moment for the death of the 'starball'

Nike are set to retake control of the Champions League ball-making duties and as such, the now iconic star design will be retired. They had 3 goes at it at the turn of the century and went with a minimalist look, so it will be interesting to see what comes next.

Who to watch: PSG

Perhaps it's a bit of a left-field pick, this one, but I think the battle between Pacho and Kane will be worth looking out for. The Ecuadorian defender is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top talents playing in Europe and his focus will be on keeping Kane quiet for 180 minutes across the two games.

With solid passing out from the back as well, he's proven himself to be a key outlet for PSGin their buildup, and Luis Enrique's team sprouts from the security that both he and Marquinhos give to the rest of the players.

Bayern arrive at the Parc de Princes!

Serious faces all round from the German side, who are looking to continue their dominant run in Europe's elite competition.

Huge name missing for Bayern

Bringing it back to absences for a moment, the biggest name missing for Bayern tonight is their manager, Vincent Kompany, who won't be on the sideline for the game.

The former Manchester City defender picked up a yellow card against Real Madrid (more on that game later) and as such will have to watch the game from the stands.

Of course, he'll have his iPad there, a direct line to the bench, and all the buffet food Paris has got to offer.

Lineups incoming...

It's not long until we get to find out the two starting XIs for this huge game in Paris.

Stay tuned.

This tweet seems to suggest that we've got both home kits on show this evening, which makes a nice change from having to watch some horrible volt green outfits race up and down the pitch. I'm no football dinosaur, but things like this make me smile.

Who's the ref?

Sandro Schärer is the referee today, and one you may not have on your Referee Spotter's Guide.

Unless of course you're a Swiss Super League lover, where he's got close to 200 games (186) under his belt. He's got a European hat-trick, having refereed games in the Europa League and Conference League.

The Swiss referee took charge of PSG's opening game of the Champions League league phase, a 4-0 win over Atalanta.

Bayern team news:

For Bayern, the list is long but their deep squad means it should have a somewhat limited impact. Serge Gnabry is the big name missing, having suffered an injury that rules him out for the World Cup. Lennart Karl (thigh) is also out for the game, but he may well make it back for the second leg.

The other players on the injury list are:

Guerreiro

Ulrich

Bischof

Mike

Kiala

PSG team news

Luis Enrique's team come into this home game with almost a clean bill of health, with only Quentin Ndjantou on the injury list. All of his big hitters are fit and expected to start the game.
