A sense of urgency now from Chivas as the visitors sense that time is not on their side. To be honest, the scoreline is quite a fair reflection of what we've seen with Puebla the better side on the day.

So close to being 2-0 after a fantastic sweeping move from La Franja. The ball falls to Cortizo who really should have found the target.

The game starting to lose it's rhythm now with a series of continuous fouls seeing a stop-start feel to proceedings.

Looks pretty close to a full house at the 51,000 capacity Estadio Cuauhtémoc this evening but incredible to see as many red and white shirts in the stands as the blue and white of the home side.

It's all Puebla now as the home side attack in wave after wave with Chivas wasteful in possession.

The matter of Chivas keeping their season alive is an additional pressure for the side from Guadalajara in the Apertura 2022. There is also a growing rumour that elimination on Sunday against Puebla could seal the fates of the club’s sporting director, Ricardo Peláez, and the coach Ricardo Cadena.

'La Franja' will be buoyed along by a big crowd at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc (which is the fourth biggest in Mexico) with a decent attendance expected at the 51,000 capacity ground this evening.

Historical advantage favours Puebla

Puebla hold historical advantage over their preliminary-round opponents. The two-time Mexican champions have knocked Chivas out of the playoffs four times, while Guadalajara - who have gone more than 30 years without a postseason win over La Franja - having progressed at Puebla’s expense just twice.

Both sides will be looking to emulate Tigres UANL and Cruz Azul who both sealed their tickets for the next stage with a Saturday night win over Necaxa and Leon respectively,

The last match of the four play-offs, and the one that on paper looks like the most evenly matched, is the duel between Puebla and Chivas. Larcamón’s side finished in eighth place, which means they will play the play-off against Chivas at home as Cadena’s men failed to win their last match against Cruz Azul, so the men from Guadalajara are forced to visit the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.

The action at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc (Puebla City), tonight gets underway at 16:30 pm (local time), which equates to US 5:30 pm (ET) and 2:30 pm US (PT).
