Pumas’ incredible undefeated streak against Atlas on the road

A lot has happened in the world since the last time Atlas beat the university team at home and it wasn’t about to change on Wednesday.

Pumas drew 0-0 at Estadio Jalisco against Atlas in this match of Matchday 9 of the Clausura 2024 of Liga MX, maintaining a streak of seven years without losing at that venue in Mexico. Since the Apertura 2017 tournament, Pumas have not been defeated at that stadium when facing the Rojinegros.

July 28, 2017, was the last occasion that the Zorros were able to defeat the UNAM university team in Liga MX. Jaine Barreiro and Gustavo Alustiza were the scorers for Atlas, while Abraham González opened the scoring for Pumas just 2 minutes into the game.

Atlas struggles to win against Pumas

Since then, Pumas have maintained dominance in the Perla Tapatía against the Rojinegros, as seven matches have been contested at that venue since then, with Pumas winning four encounters and registering three goalless draws. The three matches that have ended in draws are this one from Clausura 2024, Apertura 2022, and Clausura 2022.

Since Apertura 2017, Atlas hasn’t defeated Pumas at Estadio Jalisco. However, the story is different at Ciudad Universitaria because in Apertura 2021 was the last time the Rojinegros managed to defeat Pumas at Estadio Olímpico Universitario in the league, and before that victory, the last time they won was in Apertura 2014.
