Pumas sign Rogelio Funes Mori: transfer fee, contract length
Striker Funes Mori, 32, has completed a move to Liga MX rivals Pumas after concluding a nearly decade-long stint at Monterrey.
Pumas have confirmed the signing of Rogelio Funes Mori, who has joined the seven-time Mexican champions after ending a nine-year spell at Liga MX rivals Monterrey.
“I’m very happy, I’ve come to a very big club and a very important institution,” Funes Mori said on Monday as he arrived in Mexico City to complete his move.
“In all honesty, I didn’t want to leave Mexico, I wanted to continue playing here and it’s a very good opportunity for me to come to Pumas.”
Leaves Monterrey as highest ever scorer
The Argentina-born striker, who has 17 caps for Mexico, scored a club-record 160 times in 328 appearances for Monterrey, having signed for the side from Portuguese giants Benfica in 2015.
In his time at Estadio BBVA, he helped Monterrey to the Apertura 2019 title, two Copas MX and two CONCACAF Champions Leagues.
How much has Funes Mori cost Pumas?
Funes Mori arrives at Pumas for what is believed to be a $3m transfer fee, having been deemed surplus to requirements by Monterrey head coach Fernando Ortiz.
AS México understands he has been handed an 18-month contract.

The River Plate youth product should be fit to play in Pumas’ Clausura 2024 opener against Juárez, as he had been taking part in Monterrey’s pre-season training since mid-December.
