Raúl Jiménez reaches 100 games with Mexico national team
The Fulham striker made his debut with the Mexico national team against Denmark in January 2013.
Raúl Jiménez has played his 100th game for the Mexico national team. The Fulham player made his debut in 2013 when he scored in a 1-1 draw against Denmark in Phoenix, Arizona.
Since that match, the “Lobo de Tepeji”, has been a mainstay for the national team, overcoming the serious skull fracture he suffered in 2020 which undoubtedly has seen him struggle to return to his previous level.
Jiménez participated in the World Cup in Brazil 2014, coming on in place of Giovanni dos Santos in the 84th minute.
In Russia 2018, under Juan Carlos Osorio, he played in two games at the World Cup, where he came on for Hirving Lozano in the 66th minute, and against Brazil in the round of 16, he came on for Javier Hernandez in the 60th minute.
2022 World Cup
Finally in Qatar 2022, Jiménez saw action in all three games for Mexico against Poland, Argentina and Saudi Arabia. Against Poland, he replaced Henry Martín with 20 minutes to go. He made an appearance in the 66th minute against Argentina and against Saudi Arabia, he replaced Martín in the 77th minute.
Jiménez has also had memorable moments such as the goal against Panama in the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014 at the Azteca stadium in 2013, where a goal was required and the striker, who came through Club América’s academy, scored a spectacular bicycle kick, in a key result to qualify for the World Cup.
After 10 years of international service, Jiménez has played his 100th game, scoring a goal against Australia in a 2-2 draw on Saturday. He now has 30 international goals for his country.
