Real Madrid and Barcelona have learned their fate in the draw for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, a key competition in both teams’ push to win multiple trophies in 2024/25.

Who will Real Madrid and Barcelona play in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals?

Real Madrid will make the short trip to fellow LaLiga club Leganés and will be firm favourites to progress to the quarterfinals.

Barcelona also have an away tie and will take on Valencia at Mestalla.

The cup games will take place in the week of February 4, 5 and 6, with the Spanish Soccer Federation (RFEF) yet to announce the exact schedule for the last eight.

Which trophies can Real Madrid and Barcelona win this season?

Real Madrid and Barcelona have already picked up silverware this season, although it is Carlo Ancelotti’s team who have will more opportunities to add to their tally in the coming months.

Los Blancos can win six trophies in 2024/25: they have already clinched the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, but missed out on the 2025 Spanish Super Cup, which was lifted by Barcelona, who emphatically defeated their Clásico rivals in the final in Saudi Arabia.

The was the first trophy of the campaign for Barça, who hope to finish with a quadruple.

Clásico rivals face LaLiga and Champions League battle

As ever, Madrid and Barça will both expect to win the LaLiga title this season. That said, the Catalans are already seven points adrift of their Clásico foes, and five behind Atlético Madrid, who are also in the hunt for the multiple trophies.

Hansi Flick’s side are all but through to the last 16 of the Champions League, and Real Madrid will expect to join them, even if they might have to go through the playoffs after a stuttering start to the league phase.

Additionally, Madrid will take part in the new-and-improved FIFA Club World Cup in the summer of 2025, which takes the total number of competitions they could win this season (and postseason) to six.
