Real Madrid announce BMW sponsorship deal: what cars will the players get?
BMW has been confirmed as Real Madrid’s official car supplier, after the club ended its near 20-year partnership with fellow German brand Audi.
Following the end of the club’s 19-year partnership with Audi, Real Madrid have announced BMW as the European champions’ new official car supplier.
As part of the sponsorship deal, Madrid and BMW will “jointly pursue initiatives in the domains of future mobility, sustainability and diversity”, the club said in a statement.
Madrid president Florentino Pérez and BMW Spain and Portugal’s executive president, Manuel Terroba, signed the agreement at Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground on Wednesday.
BMW to provide range of fully electric vehicles
BMW will provide cars to the players and coaches of the men’s and women’s soccer first teams, and the club’s basketball squad. They will be able to choose from the five 100% electric models in the BMW catalogue: the iX, i4, iX3, i7 and iX1.
Madrid’s alliance with BMW will contribute to working on specific initiatives that support the sustainable development of the new Bernabéu.
The organisations will also create the NEXT Sustainability Trophy, which will award participants’ innovation and sustainability, offering visibility to initiatives that contribute to improving the environment.
Real Madrid “the perfect partner” - BMW chief
“Real Madrid not only represents the world’s leading sporting institution, but also an organisation in constant evolution, striving for excellence in its activities based on demand, talent, quality and leadership,” Terroba said.
“It also has a firm commitment to sustainability, solidarity, diversity and a winning spirit. This makes the club the perfect partner to address the challenges of the present and the future.”
