Real Madrid coach Ancelotti slams pitch in Copa del Rey match against Cacereño
The Spanish giants sneaked past minnows Cacereño thanks to a Rodrygo goal, but their Italian coach wasn’t happy.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was upset by the pitch at minnows Cacereño, where the soccer giants were playing on Wednesday evening in the Spanish Copa del Rey. Madrid sneaked through by the bare minimum, 1-0, thanks to a Rodrygo goal, but their Italian coach was less than happy by the playing surface.
“You can’t play football on that. In my opinion, it’s not football, it’s another sport. It’s beautiful because the small teams can compete with the big teams, it’s great for the fans, but the fans also want to see decent football matches.”
Madrid’s chances in the Copa del Rey
Asked about the possibilities of Real Madrid winning the Copa del Rey, Ancelotti said the quality of his side gave him reason to believe they could do it. “They can fight for and compete in every competition.”
