Real Madrid compiles 500‑page dossier for UEFA detailing refereeing errors it claims cost the team 16 points

The club has been preparing a comprehensive dossier since the start of the season detailing the refereeing errors that cost them the title.

Real Madrid have been building a massive refereeing dossier since the start of the season — and now the club says it’s ready to take it to UEFA. According to the organization, the report includes 500 pages and a video highlighting officiating decisions from this season and last that the club believes have cost the team 16 points in La Liga. Newly-crowned champions Barcelona currently lead Madrid by 14.

Florentino Pérez confirmed the plan during his Tuesday press conference, saying the club will present both the written dossier and the video to UEFA. The document also includes a breakdown of VAR interventions: Madrid has been involved in 14 VAR reviews, with 11 going against the team and only three in its favor — a net balance of –8, the worst in the league. Barcelona, by contrast, sits at +5, with 13 favorable and eight unfavorable decisions.

Madrid argues that the numbers don’t even capture the full picture, insisting that several damaging moments came not from incorrect calls, but from non‑calls which the club believes should have been reviewed.

Below is the list of refereeing decisions Real Madrid claims cost them 16 points — all included in the video produced by RMTV that the club will send to UEFA.

Matchday 12: Rayo Vallecano 0–0 Real Madrid

Referee: Martínez Munuera • VAR: Figueroa Vázquez

Points claimed lost: 2

Madrid cites three uncalled penalties:

  • A shirt pull on Bellingham (22’)
  • A push on Güler (47’)
  • A grab on Mbappé in stoppage time

Matchday 14: Girona 1–1 Real Madrid

Referee: De Burgos Bengoetxea • VAR: Pulido Santana

Points claimed lost: 2

  • Girona’s opening goal came after what Madrid argues was a foul on Mbappé during the buildup.
  • At 1–1, Rodrygo was tripped in the box (80’) with no penalty given and no VAR intervention.

Matchday 15: Real Madrid 0–2 Celta

Referee: Quintero González • VAR: Figueroa Vázquez

Points claimed lost: 3

Madrid points to:

  • A non‑red card for Borja Iglesias after an elbow on Bellingham (58’)
  • A penalty not given on Carreras (79’)
  • The expulsions of Fran García, Carreras, and Endrick (the latter from the bench)

Matchday 25: Osasuna 2–1 Real Madrid

Referee: Quintero González • VAR: Figueroa Vázquez

Points claimed lost: 2

This was the match where Madrid lost the league lead for good.

  • Budimir was initially booked for simulation in a challenge with Courtois and Asensio, but VAR intervened and the referee awarded a penalty — a decision Madrid argues was interpretative, not a clear error, and therefore should not have been reviewed.

Matchday 30: Mallorca 2–1 Real Madrid

Referee: Sánchez Martínez • VAR: Javier Iglesias Villanueva

Points claimed lost: 3

  • Madrid claims a handball penalty should have been awarded for Pablo Torre’s block of a Mbappé cross.
  • Mallorca’s 90th‑minute winner began with what Madrid argues was a clean tackle by Mastantuono.

Matchday 31: Real Madrid 1–1 Girona

Referee: Alberola Rojas • VAR: Trujillo Suárez

Points claimed lost: 2

  • In the 88th minute, Mbappé was struck by an elbow from Vitor Reis, leaving him bleeding from a cut above his right eyebrow. No penalty was awarded.

Matchday 32: Betis 1–1 Real Madrid

Referee: Soto Grado • VAR: González Fuertes

Points claimed lost: 2

Two key complaints:

  • A handball by Ricardo Rodríguez was dismissed due to an alleged offside by Bellingham — though Madrid insists he was onside.
  • On Betis’ equalizer, Madrid claims Antony grabbed Mendy, preventing him from clearing the ball.
