Real Madrid, through an official statement on their website, have confirmed that winger Vinicus Junior has suffered an injury to his right hamstring.

The Brazilian went down in the recent game against Celta de Vigo in LaLiga EA Sports, where the player was forced off in the first half, being replaced by Spanish striker, Joselu, after just 18 minutes. The game was won 0-1 by the side from the capital thanks to a late goal from new signing, Jude Bellingham.

What did Real Madrid’s statement say on Vini Jr’s injury?

Now, after carrying out tests, the club have confirmed the news that Vinicius has suffered “an injury in the right hamstring”.

The full statement is as follows: “Following tests carried out on Vini. Jr by the Real Madrid Medical Services, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the right biceps femoris muscle.”

Vinicius had featured in all three of Real Madrid’s opening games to the 23/24 season, scoring a goal in the second against Almería. Injuries have already hampered Real Madrid this season, and Vini Jr is another name on the long list.

How long will Vinicius be out for?

Real Madrid, who are top of the league, concluded their statement with a short line that says they “his progress will be monitored” and no time is given as to when the winger may return to the field of play. Low grade hamstring injuries usually take 1-2 weeks; as for Vini Jr, the signs are that he will take longer to recover and could be out for anything up to 6 weeks.

Which games will Vinicius miss for Real Madrid?

The likelihood is that Vini Jr is out until at least the beginning of October, which means that he will probably miss 5 games for Real Madrid: Getafe (home), Real Sociedad (home), Atlético Madrid (away), Las Palmas (home) and Girona (away).

He will also miss two Champions League fixtures, on September 19/20 and October 3/4.

It is hoped that he is back for the LaLiga tie against Osasuna on October 8 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
