Real Madrid confirms Tchouaméni future with major contract call

Aurélien Tchouaméni will begin the 2026-27 season at Real Madrid with a new contract in place. The French midfielder will have five more years ahead of him to continue proving he can be the cornerstone of the club’s midfield. Pending the formal signing, the official photographs, and one final meeting after the summer break, the agreement reinforces the long-term vision behind his 2022 arrival, when Madrid beat out several European heavyweights for the signature of the then-Monaco midfielder.

Reaching an agreement was straightforward thanks to the willingness shown by both sides, a reality far removed from the speculation that has surrounded the player. Madrid never entertained approaches from other clubs despite attempts from teams interested in signing him, including Manchester United. Those at Old Trafford were already aware, however, that their efforts were unlikely to get anywhere. At no point was Tchouaméni’s departure seriously considered.

How much will Tchouaméni earn?

Contrary to some reports, Tchouaméni’s new deal will not push his net salary into eight figures. The French international believes Madrid is the best possible place for him, which helped make negotiations relatively simple. The new contract is expected to be worth around €9 million ($10.3 million) net per season. It does not exceed €10 million ($11.4 million) under any circumstances, let alone the €13 million figure ($14.9 million) that has been mentioned in some quarters.

Mourinho fully on board with Tchouaméni extension

The contract extension is a club-driven decision and one that has naturally been welcomed by new head coach José Mourinho, who views Tchouaméni as one of the elite players in the game when it comes to controlling the tempo and dictating play from midfield. Confidence in the 26-year-old remains absolute.

Throughout the process, the player made it clear that his only desire was to stay at Real Madrid and extend his commitment to the club. He feels fully at home with the organization, the city, and everything the Madrid institution represents. From the Frenchman’s perspective, there was never any real debate, making the negotiations easy to complete thanks to the mutual commitment shown by both parties.
