Real Madrid injury update and predicted starting XI for LaLiga game vs Real Sociedad
Real Madrid have all their internationals back and a number of players have returned from injury ahead of the next fixture.
Real Madrid trained this Thursday afternoon at Valdebebas with good news for Carlo Ancelotti, who was able to have at his disposal many more players than he expected: the Italian coach recovered all the internationals who left during break and, as a bonus, he was able to welcome back two previously injured players for the entire session.
Carletto has his players ready for the next League match, against Real Sociedad at the Bernabéu this Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 noon PT.
The first bit of good news was the return of all the internationals. On Wednesday, Tchouaméni made an appearance - even though he had the day off - and on Thursday, Kepa, Lunin, Carvajal, Alaba, Rüdiger, Modric, Camavinga, Bellingham, Valverde, Rodrygo and Joselu all joined up with the rest of the squad.
Which Real Madrid players have returned from injury?
The most surprising appearances were those of Valverde and Rodrygo, who played their games in the early hours of Wednesday morning and immediately got on a plane to make trans-continental trips. Specifically, the Brazilian went directly from Madrid airport to the training ground, even though he was fatigued from the flight. Given the air miles, the Madrid coaching staff all breathed a sigh of relief: despite the worldwide trips, everyone has arrived injury-free.
Added to the good news is that both Ceballos and Mendy completed training without any problems, after having spent the previous days doing only partial sessions. Both, therefore, are much closer to being ready to play on Sunday, although they will arrive at the game without match fitness and as a result, their participation is unlikely. Neither of them have made their debut yet this season: Ceballos was injured before Madrid’s trip to the United States in preseason and Mendy went down during the friendly in Dallas against Barcelona.
Real Madrid’s predicted starting XI against Real Sociedad
As things stand, the injury room only has two occupants left: Arda Güler and Vinicius. Of course, Militão and Courtois, both of whom underwent surgery for torn cruciate ligaments and will miss the entire season, are also still on the road to recovery. The two attacking players are progressing well, although at the moment there are no deadlines for their return, with a return suggested as being after the October national team break. The first game after that break will be on October 21 or 22 at the Sánchez Pizjuán against Sevilla.
Ancelotti has, despite the injuries, enough players to make a strong eleven against Real Sociedad, with the only doubt at left back and who is best placed to go up against Kubo.
As for the starting XI, Carlo Ancelotti’s team seems more or less clear:
