Real Madrid make late decision on Mbappé’s Clásico appearance
The new additions to the squad for the Clásico are Courtois and Tchouameni, who will not receive any sporting punishment for his fight with Valverde.
Another blow for Real Madrid fans – yet again – ahead of tonight’s game against Barcelona. Kylian Mbappé has not recovered in time and the Frenchman will be unable to help in tonight’s league Clásico, which could end with the Catalan side being crowned La Liga champion.
He has not recovered from a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his right quadriceps.
Will Courtois play in El Clásico?
Thibaut Courtois, however, does make the game. After more than a month out, which forced him to miss the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, the Belgian goalkeeper has recovered in time for tonight’s game in Barcelona. Also in the squad, as Álvaro Arbeloa announced yesterday, is Aurélien Tchouameni. The Frenchman has not been given a sporting punishment after his fight with Federico Valverde and will be available for the Clásico.
Arbeloa has turned to academy players to complete a squad hit by injuries. The Castilla players traveling with the team are D. Jiménez, Thiago, Cestero and Palacios. Madrid have only 16 first-team players available for a game that could decide the title.
